Weldable Rebar and Bill
Hi Sean,
Regarding your question number 1. To add DBA to the BOM with the grade you can change the name of the material in the AstorProfiles, however in your case you want to keep the original profile. You would have to create a new one. As this is an extensive process this would have to be done by Graitec. In order to perform this service we need you AstorProfile.mdb.
In response to your question number 2 regarding the stud grade ASTM 108 having an "Unknown" message in your BOM. This is a bug in the AS 2014. We are aware of it and will inform Development so this issue can be rectified in the next service pack.

Restore "clip angle" connection
Hi Joseph,
You have deleted the clip angle from the Connection Vault not the Tool Palette. All the information for the clip Angle still remains, however the icon is missing.
You will have to replace the ConnectionVaultData and the ConnectionVaultData_User xml files.
The location is C :> ProgramData>Graitec>Advance Steel>2014>Steel >Support> Toolbars.
Remember to navigate to the year of AS you are using.
Send a Request to: Support.americas@graitec.com
I hope this helps

The installation is complete, but the program would not start.
Hi Dave,
Generally, a computer's bit count indicates how much data it can process, the speed with which it can process the data, and the maximum memory capacity. In order to optimize the computer's performance, the bit count of the operating system that is installed on the computer should match the bit count of the computer itself.
To find out if you are running a 64 or 32 bit addition of windows:
1. Select start
2. Type msinfo32 and press enter.
3. In the Item column scroll to System Type
In the Value column you will see the type "x64-based PC" or "x32-based PC"
This might be problematic if you are trying to install software that requires a "x64-based PC"
I hope this helps.

Using flat bar to make a skew shear tab connection
Depending on which release of AS you are using will open your (2014) GAM Graitec Advance Manager or 2015 Management tools
1. Select Settings>Defaults
2. Select Use filter and type mapping
3. Select the General tab >General
4. In the Property Name Property Value window check mapping
5. Select Use filter and type Plate
6. Select the Plate tab >General
7. In the Property Name set:
8. Mapping plates Priority 1 to Thickness and width
9. Mapping plates Priority 2 to Thickness
10. Mapping plates Priority 3 to off
To have your measurements taken from the end of the beam
1. 1. Open the Shear plate dialog box by double clicking on the grey intelligent box
2. Select the Cuts & Stiffeners tab and select the Cut parallel box
3. Select the Plate & Bolts tab and select the Plate layout tab and change the web gap to 1/16”
4. On the Plate & Bolts tab and select the Horizontal bolts tab and change the layout to plate instead of beam end. Change the Edge distance to 2” and the End edge distance also to 2” instead of 1 ½”
In response to your last question: Is there a way to force a 4" flat bar without having to compensate for secondary beam web thickness and the skew angle for each unique case?
Unfortunately you will have no other option but to compensate for secondary beam web thickness and the skew angle for each unique case?
You have the option to use mapping. You will find more information regarding mapping at: http://www.graitec.com/en/FAQ_view.asp?FAQID=481&Language=EN&Name=How+are+typical+plate+sizes+automatically+converted+%28mapped%29+into+flat+bars+in+Advance+Steel+%3F

User drawing styles
Hi Federico,
To be able to have your details use your user styles you have to create one in the drawing styles manager under User.
Select the style you want, make a copy of it and name it accordingly.
Go to the Drawing Process Manager and define it in the Drawing Styles detail style map Properties.
Hope this helps.

Janet Black

Upgrading Advanced Steel 2010 to Advanced Steel 2014.
Hi Steve,
Essentially, you are able to open up Advance Steel 2010 with Advance Steel 2014. You can save your files to Advance Steel 2014 but all the settings you have made in Advance Steel 2014 cannot be converted to directly to Advance Steel 2014.
You would need to do this sequentially meaning converting from Advance Steel 2010 to Advance Steel 2011 then to Advance Steel 2012 then to Advance Steel 2013 then to Advance Steel 2014. In the event you do not have these versions we will transfer them for you on our side. We will need all your Astor’s except your AstorAddins.mdb which you would copy to the same location in your Advance steel 2014 folder
You would have to convert all your databases: AstorBase.mdb/ AstorGratings.mdb/ AstorRules.mdb/ AstorSettings.mdb are located in:
· C:
· ProgramData
· Graitec
· Advance Steel
· 2014
· Steel
· Data (folder)
Your AstorProfiles.mdb is located in:
· C:
· ProgramData
· Graitec
· Data (folder)
You then have to copy your AstorAddins.mdb from the folder in your 2010 folder in the same location in your Advance steel 2014 folder.
Your AstorAddins.mdb is located in:
· C:
· ProgramData
· Graitec
· Advance Steel
· 2014
· User 2
· Data (folder)
If you have customized your prototypes you will have to copy them to the same locations on Advance Steel 2014
Your prototypes are located in:
· C:
· ProgramData
· Graitec
· Advance Steel
· 2014
· Shared
· Support
· Prototypes
Open each one and save it to override the existing prototypes in Advance Steel 2014.
I hope this helps

When I press the help button, computer starts to configure revit.
This happens sometimes when you are working in AS. AS will open with the program that was opened last. For example if you opened Mechanical Desktop closed it then opened AS then AS will open with Mechanical Desktop in the background. The same is true when you open a version of AutoCAD for example, you have AS 2015 installed and you also have AutoCAD 2014. You open AutoCAD 2014then close it; the next time you open up AS 2015 it will open on AutoCAD 2014.

Arial Narrow font does not display properly
Hi Dennis,
The reason your section labels do not work might be that the text file (Arial Narrow) is missing or corrupt. Try reinstalling AutoCAD and Advance Steel. This should fix your issue for both your section view cut labels and your text.

Janet Black

Flexera License Manager
Hello Owen,
I would require more information as to your existing Licence manager and what kind of license file from Autodesk you need. Graitec's Licensing method depends on the Licence file you require from Autodesk.

Janet
